Aidanfield Christian School can offer a wide variety of options for international students and teachers.
These include:
- Short Term Study (From 1-10 Weeks)
- Medium Term Study (From 11-30 Weeks)
- Long Term Study (Full Year)
Group/Study Tours
We offer short-term placements for international students who are traveling with their families during holiday breaks or staying in Christchurch for the duration of their visa.
Students are fully immersed in all aspects of classroom life, including sport and art opportunities. As the gateway to South Island of New Zealand, we are grateful to be accessible to many tourist attractions throughout the year – ski, surf, camping, wildlife parks, adventure parks and many more
Our programme is based around a theme of study and experience which includes both specific English instruction and regular interaction with New Zealand school students. This will provide the challenge of using English in real situations. The programme includes visits, outings and activities that enhance our visiting students’ knowledge and understanding of New Zealand life and culture.
Homestay
We are committed to quality teaching and learning, quality care and homestay provision. The New Zealand government has developed The Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 (including Amendments 2019). The Code contains special provisions giving extra protection to pupils under the age of 18.
While parents who send their children to study at Aidanfield Christian School from overseas countries are concerned about their academic progress, they also worry whether their child will be happy and settled, are they making friends, what if there any problems with homestay parents, is someone taking an interest in their son or daughter and helping them achieve?
The children who come to study at Aidanfield Christian School from other countries and away from their parents remain young people, the same as young people the world over. They need our love, care and support during these challenging years.
Homestay accommodation is only available to students age 10 years and above.

Professional Development for Teachers
We offer professional learning for teachers challenges beliefs and assumptions and leads to evidence-based improvement, which in turn supports enhanced student outcomes. Literacy is a strength of our school and New Zealand has consistently ranked very highly in world literacy results. Our invitation is to teachers who specialize in TEFL or TESOL to join us in discussions and learning on this fundamental skill.
This unique, newly designed, school-based professional development opportunity is available at ACS in March or July at any given year. Your school is invited to confirm interest in participating in this project which is focused on building knowledge, skills and confidence in the teaching of language. We believe that through advanced professional learning in literacy, teachers can be empowered and equipped to teach English effectively and foster collaboration through greater understanding.
