When students come to study in New Zealand, education providers have an important responsibility to ensure that those students are well informed, safe and properly cared for.
Aidanfield Christian School is a signatory to the New Zealand Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. We are committed to quality teaching and learning and high-quality pastoral care and support. The New Zealand government has developed The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/providers-partners/education-code-of-practice/
The Code contains special provisions giving extra protection to pupils under the age of 18. The school staff at Aidanfield Christian School are here to support all international visitors following their arrival at the School. They are available at all times during the enrolment period and have responsibility for any pastoral care issues that arise at the school and can advise on and provide access to support services if required.
With young students traveling and living with parents, the first responsibility for pastoral care on day to day matters will remain with the parent. Our staff are happy to advise around issues to do with New Zealand culture and services. See our FAQ’s page for common questions that arise for our International visitors.
The Code aims to protect international learners. It ensures they have a positive student experience and are supported to meet their goals.
Under the Code, Aidanfield Christian School must make sure you are welcome, safe, and properly cared for.
